An amazing flower as well as a conversation piece, Psychopsis Mendenhall is also one of the few orchids that blooms year after year on the same stem, a new flower opening as its predecessor fades. When it was awarded in 2004 the flower measured almost 6" across!
Psychopsis Mendenhall prefers bright indirect light with regular watering and fertilizing (see ours in the 'Supplies' section) but be careful to keep water out of the new growths especially during the late Fall-Winter months as it is easy to kill new growths. It has also been our experience that this orchid doesn't like mix that has broken down. Ideal temperatures are 65 - 85 degrees night to day.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not cut the flower stem until/unless it has turned brown.
