Papilionanthe teres
species-Assam, Bangladesh, Himalayas, India, China, Nepal, Myanmar, Andaman Islands, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam
Once included as a Vanda, Papilionanthe teres is a terete (pencil-like) leaved orchid that can grow to a large size vertically, but can bloom long before it's mature. The plant can be cut to keep it short, cutting below a couple of roots. The base will also regrow a lead. It is a warm grower that, in nature grows in full sun, so bright light is recommended although care should be taken to keep the plants away from south and west exposures next to glass. We have flowered them in our greenhouses with bright indirect light along with their Vanda relatives The plants can flower at any time and can produce 3-4" fragrant flowers, few to 8 in number on a short, arching stem. Water and fertilize regularly year-round using a liquid or water soluble fertilizer twice a month.
NOT FLOWERING SIZE! NOT IN BUD OR BLOOM!!!
