Prosthechea (Encyclia) mariae
species - NW Mexico
In bloom, Prosthechea mariae always inspires "Oohs and aahs", even among seasoned orchid enthusiasts. It's enchanting (something we could all use a little more of!). Flowers occur in Spring-Summer on arching to pendant stem, 1-5 in number, are fragrant, about 3" across and are relatively long-lasting for something that looks so delicate!
We've grown these in a greenhouse that also houses our Cymbidiums, so they get diffused bright light, temperatures that may range into the 40's as well as the 90's with regular water and fertilizer during the warm months of the year, but markedly less during the colder ones when it likes a bit of a dry-ish rest.
These are in an idea size for mounting on cork or other suitable material (avoid marine driftwood!)
LIMITED! NEAR FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN BUD!!
