Brassavola cucullata FS mounted
species - Mexico, Central & South America
These are grown from captive seed (i.e. not collected). The pendant cylindrical or terete leaves are about 12" long and flowers are produced from the axil (junction of the leaf and the stem) at almost any time of year. Flowers are borne one or two at a time, are up to 7" and are fragrant mostly at night.
This is an intermediate grower (60-80 degrees or so, night to day) that likes bright indirect light. Because it is mounted, care should be taken not to let the plant dry out for an extended length of time. Remember to add a liquid or water soluble fertilizer frequently, but avoid fertilizing a thoroughly dry plant. Water first, then apply water plus fertilizer the next day. (see our fertilizers in the "Supplies" section.
