As is the case with many Bulbophyllums, Bulbophyllum claptonense prefers warmish temperatures (65-85 degrees night to day), semi-shade and moist media (not soggy). Good humidity is also a plus. Generally, however they are rewarding and easy to grow. It is a member of the Bulb. lobbii Section. Ours are growing in sphagnum moss, but they can be successfully grown in other media.
TIP: Our experience is that this, like many other Bulbophyllums, does not root deeply and we suggest that they be grown in shallow pots, baskets or pans.
Single flowers are nearly 3" across and are held on an upright stem of about 6". Plants may flower at any time, but are more likely to bloom late Fall-Winter.
