Dendrobium bracteosum
species - Papua & New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, the Moluccas
Dendrobium bracteosum var. tannii, this is the purple form of the species that is also seen in pink and yellow (actually the petals and sepals are white, but the lip is yellow-orange. It may flower at any time Spring-Fall on mature leafed or leafless canes. Flowers are small, often held in tufts along the stem, fragrant and long-lasting, tending to open a pale pink only to color up as the flowers age, but long before they are through.
Dendrobium bracteosum would like bright indirect light, warm temperatures (65 - 85 degrees) with regular watering and fertilizing (see ours in the "Supplies" section). Keep in mind that these plants are in small pots and may dry out faster than those in larger containers. NOW PLANTED IN NZ SPHAGNUM MOSS!!
These are small plants, but are, nevertheless flowering size - NOT CURRENTLY IN FLOWER!
