Maxillaria scalariformis, so named for its ladder-like leaf arrangement, is a cool growing, eventually large size orchid that likes semi-shady conditions. We're growing it with night temperatures of 55 degrees. Water and feed regularly year-round using a liquid or water soluble fertilizer once a month. Flowers appear in late Winter and are up to 2" in size. Our plants are 5-6" tall, but will start to bloom long before they achieve full size.
