Zygopetalum Blue Hawaii

This is a vigorous new hybrid by master breeder, James Fang of Hawaii. Some have already bloomed while still in 2" rose pots (pictures to the right are from this group). Flowers are about 2" across and fragrant. Zygopetalums do best in relatively cool, bright conditions and many people grow them with their Cymbidiums where weather permits. The roots like to stay moist (as opposed to continually soggy) and ours are planted in NZ sphagnum moss to aid in this. Avoid allowing the plants to become dried out-sphagnum moss makes a good substrate when repotting. Water and feed regularly adding a liquid or water soluble fertilizer once a month and remembering that they are in small pots!!
