Catasetum Gerhard Leiste
(pileatum X Jumbo Pearl)
Incredible, fragrant, 4" flowers are produced in Winter-Spring on relatively compact plants. Catasetums, in general like bright indirect light with heavy watering and feeding during the growing season. Good humidity and air movement are also helpful and help to discourage spider mites, the plant's nemesis.
Catasetums are among the orchids that go through a dry Winter "rest". As the year winds to a close, expect the leaves to begin to yellow, and fall off. As this process begins, eliminate fertilizer and reduce watering frequency to once a month, just enough to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling. in a short time, new growth will begin again at the base of the pseudobulb at which time repot if necessary and begin to water a fertilize again.
LIMITED! NEAR FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN SPIKE!!
