Cattleya Monte Elegante
(Penny Kuroda [Sophie Martin Gp] X Interglossa)
This is a bifoliate Cattleya (meaning it has 2 leaves per growth typically) and owes much of its appearance to 3 bifoliate species -C. intermedia, amethystoglossa and guttata. Another feature of the parentage is the ability to produce many flowers on a mature plant - a dozen or more almost 3" fragrant flowers per stem. Like most Cattleya-types, Monte Elegant would like bright indirect light, and temperatures between about 60 and 85 degrees night to day. Water and fertilize regularly using a liquid or water soluble fertilizer twice a month, especially during the warmer, longer, brighter days of the year, but allow the medium to dry slightly between applications.
