Cycnoches Mass Confusion
(chlorochilon X warscewiczii)
Mass Confusion?? Yes, because at one time both species were considered to be varieties of Cycnoches ventricosum and further because the areas in which they grow somewhat overlap.
These plants are deciduous, but may not lose their leaves until late in the year or even the first part of the new year, but water and fertilizer should be eliminated until new grow begins early in the year. At that time water and heavy fertilizing should resume.
The plants like bright indirect light and warm temperature (65-85 degrees night to
day).
The very fragrant to 4" flowers occur mostly in Fall-Winter.
All this group (Cycnoches, Catasetum, Mormodes, etc. and their hybrids are attractive to spider mites which like thin leaves and still, dry, warm air. Good air movement and occasional misting may reduce the need for more stringent measures.
LIMITED! NEAR BLOOMING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN BUD OR FLOWER!!!
