Vanda Princess Mikasa
(Royal Sapphire X coerulea)
Princess Mikasa is one of the smaller growing Vandas that were once called Ascocendas. From Ascocentrum curvifolium (now Vanda curvifolia), it inherits a more compact size plant, somewhat smaller flowers, though in greater number a, when mature, the ability to bloom with 2 or more stems of flowers, sometime more than once a year.
In general, Vandas like bright indirect light and warm temperatures (65-85 degrees night to day), but because Princess Mikasa is over 50% Vanda coerulea, some cool tolerance is possible. Vandas are also best in a coarse medium. Water and fertilizer regularly using a liquid or water soluble fertilizer twice a month (see ours in the "Supplies" section).
Because of the Vanda coerulea parent, this Vanda can grow and bloom at somewhat cooler temperatures than most. We've tested them at 55 degrees for a night temperature.
Leafspan: about 12".
NEAR FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN SPIKE OR BLOOM!!!
