Dendrobium Hibiki
(bracteosum X laevifolium)
These are compact growing plants that produce clusters of flowers around 1-1.25" in size. They seem to bloom whenever they wish to and can be grown in pots or mounted to a piece of cork, wood or other suitable material. (CAUTION: do not use marine driftwood as it contains elements toxic to orchids.). They grow well here given bright indirect light, temperatures between 60 and 80 night to day One of the parents seems to like a petit repos during the Winter when a slight reduction of water and no fertilizer are helpful. (see the "NOTE" below).. Otherwise water and feed regularly; use a liquid or water soluble plant food once a month 9 see our fertilizer offerings in the "Supplies" section of the website).
LIMITED!! FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT NECESSARILY IN BUD OR BLOOM!!!
NOTE: Den. Hibiki can drop leaves at almost any time - they may turn yellow or brown with some black spots, it seems to be a habit of both parents-it does not appear to be a pathogen and does not affect new growth or flowering.
