The flowers were 7" in size when it was awarded the Award of Merit (AM) in 1990. It is the second highest award category given by the American Orchid Society.
As with many Cattleyas, ports of Paradise would like bright indirect light and temperatures between about 60 degrees at night and 85 during the day. Water regularly giving a little dryness between, with applications of a liquid or water soluble fertilizer twice a month. Back off a bit on both following the season- less when it's colder and darker.
NOTE: These are vigorously growing, but are still immature mericlones.
