Gastrochilus japonicus 2' FS
species - Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan
This miniature is happy as a cool grower (50-55 degree nights) that also likes semi-right light and moisture. It grows best mounted to a piece of cork or tree fern (freshwater driftwood is O.K. too). Our plants are about 3" in size and are planted in 2" pots. While Gastrochilus japonicus is listed as a Fall bloomer, the blooming season does appear to be variable. If they are mounted, be sure not to allow the plants to become dried out and add some liquid or water soluble plant food to to the water twice a month.
