Maxillaria tenuifolia aurea 'Yamada' AM/AOS 3" FS
Maxillaria tenuifolia aurea 'Yamada'
species - Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rice
This is the yellow (aurea) version of the very popular and easy growing Maxillaria usually seen in reddish brown-brown. It's the Coconut Pie orchid!
"Max Ten" grows best mounted on cork or treefern, but can be grown in a hanging basket as well. It grows in shady to bright indirect light (but is stronger in brighter light) and in cool to warm temperatures. We have many in a greenhouse that drops to 40 degrees at night while others grow with night temps of 65 degrees. It usually blooms Spring to Summer and is recommended to have a drier rest after flowering. The flowers are about 1.5 to 2" in size.
Ours are in 3" pots and they are flowering size. Flowering season is late Spring.
FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN BUD OR BLOOM!
