species - Borneo
Sometimes referred to as "The King of Paphiopedilums", this species is nearing extinction in its native Borneo in part due to over collection, but also due to wanton habitat destruction. Fortunately, plants in cultivation for years have been used to make sibling and self crosses as well as the many outcrosses offered to orchid enthusiasts.
Paph. rothschildianum would like semi-bright light and generally warm temperatures (65-85 degrees night to day). Water to keep the roots just moist (not soggy) and add liquid or water soluble fertilizer regularly (see ours in the "Supplies" section).
The plants offered here are grown from captive (i.e. not collected) seed and are 15-18" in leafspan.
VERY LIMITED!! NEAR BLOOMING SIZE - NOT CURRENTLY IN BUD OR FLOWER!!!
