Platycerium andinum on redwood plaque
Platycerium andinum (named for the Andes from which it comes)
species - Peru, Bolivia
This is the only staghorn fern native to the new world. It is better grown with night temperatures of 60 degrees or more and days in the 80's. It likes bright light, but not hot direct sun and while it should be watered regularly, it doesn't like staying soaked. While good humidity is helpful, misting alone is not a sufficient water source for good growth.
