Maxillaria tenuifolia 'Pacific Gold'
species - Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica
This is another color form of the famous "Coconut Pie Orchid" so-called because of its fragrance. It grows in dappled tp bright indirect light, with cool-warm temperatures. Here on the West Coast, in areas where winters aren't severe, it can be grown outside much of the year. Water and feed Maxillaria tenuifolia regularly and then, as weather cools off and days become shorter give it a bit less of both. It can be grown in pots or baskets, but is better suited for mounting on a suitable piece of cork, tree fern or other suitable material (avoid marine driftwood; sea salt will damage most orchids). Flowers are about 1.75" across and usually appear late Winter-Summer.
LIMITED!! SMALL, BUT FLOWERING SIZE!!!
Note: The plant pictured on the top right is a mature plant in a 3" pot! Long overdue for repotting.
