Coelogyne speciosa 3'' NFS
species - Malaysia, Java, Borneo, Sumatra
An epiphyte or sometimes terrestrial in its native habitat, Coelogyne speciosa likes shady, intermediate conditions (60-85 degrees night to day). We grow it in sphagnum moss in order to more easily keep the roots moist (not soggy) with regular year-round water and fertilizer. Leaves are thin and wide and the plant should be kept from hot, direct sun as well as extreme dryness or they may spot or burn at the tips. Flowers of up to 3" can be produced at any time of year and even young plants can bloom. Flower stems come from the center of the developing new growth and may have 1-3 flowers.
