Stanhopea (connata 'Orangeade' X tigrina 'Predator' FCC/AOS) 2.25"
Stanhopea (connata X tigrina 'Predator' FCC/AOS
This is one of the most vigorous seedling crosses we've seen! It will be a bit of a wait to see first flowering, but we wanted to make them available to those of you who like Stanhopeas as well as the surprise of seedlings. These will be cool tolerant (tigrina can take temperatures into the low 40's), fragrant, and should be grown in baskets in a year or two. Stanhopeas also like to be shady and moist at the roots.
Flowers may appear Spring-Fall, should be 5-6" in size, 3-4 in a pendant cluster and should be very fragrant. As to color? Surprise!!
NOTE: pictures of the PARENTS appear to the right - Stan. connata above Stan. tigrina.
NOTE: taxonomists have now reclassified Stanhopea tigrina and, therefore the clone 'Predator' belongs to the new species it is now Stanhopea nigroviolacea 'Predator' the "violet-purple Stanhopea".
