Paphiopedilum Helen Congleton

With the relatively recent introduction into cultivation in the U.S. of several new species of the Subgenus Parvisepalum, mostly from China, a whole new vista has opened up for Paphiopedilum breeders. Paph. Helen Congleton is one of the results. It involves two of the more newly described species (P. armeniacum and P. malipoense both from the 1980's) with the only member of the subgenus to have been known in cultivation for much longer (P. delenatii 1924).
The species involved are mostly Cool-Intermediate growers that want regular watering and fertilizing, but not to the point of being constantly moist. They also appreciate dappled light and a somewhat drier Winter.
