Oncostele Hilo Firecracker 'New Year' AM/AOS 4" IN SPIKE/FLOWER NOW
Oncostele Firecracker Hilo Firecracker 'New Year
(Catatante X Aloha Sparks)
Striking 2.25" long lasting, coppery colored flowers on a compact 18-20" stem: this is Oncostele Hilo Firecracker. Firecracker is another one of the plants, the generic name of which has gone through many permutations in recent years from Burrageara to Wilsonara and finally Oncostele all because taxonomists (people who engage in classification) have moved the parent plants from one genus to another.
This hasn't changed the fact that Firecracker is an easy growing worthwhile hybrid. Bright indirect light and moist-ish roots (never soggy, but not thoroughly dry either) with the regular application of a liquid or water soluble fertilizer are 2/3 of the culture. Temperature is the other 1/3 and Firecracker is tolerant of temperatures between 55 and 85 degrees day to night.
