Dendrobium hancockii 4" FS
species - southern China
Dendrobium hancockii is sometimes call the "Bamboo Orchid" because of its bamboo-like appearance though this common name is also used elsewhere. It grows as an intermediate for us (nights of 60-65 degrees) and likes bright filtered or diffused light. It also needs a reduction of water and an elimination of fertilizer during the Winter months. Otherwise water and fertilize regularly, but avoid keeping the mix overwet.
NOTE: These are the ones with wider (still narrow) leaves and larger flowers.
Flowers are fragrant, about 1.25" in size and occur mostly in Spring and early Summer.
THESE PLANTS ARE FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN BUD OR FLOWER!
