Oncostele Wildcat 'Golden Red Star'
(Rustic Bridge X Onc. Crowborough)
Here's a cross that has had 3 generic names since is was first registered in 1992. It's been an Odontocidium, a Colmanara and now an Oncostele all due to reclassifications of some of its parent species.
Well, whatever, name changes haven't altered the vigor or beauty of the plant! 18 or more long-lasting 2" flowers are borne on medium-tall, upright, branched stems that need little support.
Golden Red Star is a easy grower too. It like bright filtered or suffused light, regular water and fertilizer (see our is the "Supplies" section) and temperatures somewhere between 55 to 85 degrees. Water to keep the sphagnum moss medium just moist (not continually soggy) and add fertilizer once a month. In areas or seasons of moderate temperatures, Wildcat can be grown outdoors with a little protection.
