Wilsonara Firecat 4" IN BUD/SPIKEBUD NOW!
Oncostele Firecat 'Harmony'
(Catatante X Onc. California Fire)
We have 2 varieties of Oncostele Firecat that are almost indistinguishable from each other. Both have brick red petals and sepals with a two-tone brick and yellow lip. Flowers are a bit over 2" held nicely (facing out), about 10-12 per stem.
The generic name, "Oncostele" resulted when one of the parent plants underwent a taxonomic review. It was previously known as a Wilsonara. Wilsonaras are generally lovers of bright light, but do avoid hot direct sun close to a south or west facing window. Keep the roots moist and add a water soluble plant food to the water regularly. Wilsonara are also fairly temperature tolerant so nights of 50-55 shouldn't be a problem as long as new growths are kept dry. There is some evidence that suggests that flowers that have red or red-orange coloration actually intensify the color under cooler conditions.
