Phaiocalanthe Red Dragon
(Phcal. Kryptonite X Calanthe vestita alba)
Phaiocalanthe plants feature thin plicate (pleated) leaves and long lasting flowers in red tones. They will grow in dappled light with intermediate night temperatures (60 degrees), but you'll want to keep them from hot dry conditions and too much bright sun as this will damage the leaves. Keep the roots moist and provide good humidity to see them do well.
This is a manmade genus comprised of both a deciduous and an evergreen species. Our experience is that after flowering, the plant will lose its leaves-they will yellow slowly and fall off. At this point, water should be used sparingly and fertilizer withheld until new growth begins again.
Flowers may appear brighter in person.
