Dendrobium lawesii Mounted LIMITED
species - Papua New Guinea, Bougainville Is.
This is a sibling cross of an orchid that can bloom at any time of the year, usually on bare canes (i.e. still alive, but from which all the leaves have dropped). We grow it under intermediate conditions (about 60 degrees at night), but it is known to grow cooler. Our day temperatures are usually in the 80's. Because it is mounted, attention must be paid to keeping it from becoming dry for long periods. Regular fertilizing is also a good idea. It is suggested to give the plant a somewhat drier Winter rest, but if your normal watering is somewhat weather dependent anyway, this will happen naturally. Bright indirect light is best though the leaves may take on a reddish tint. Longest canes are about 12".
Some will be bicolored, others will be red as shown to the right
