Angraecum sesquipedale 5" terra cotta Blooming Size
species - Madagascar
This is the famous "Darwin Orchid" also known as the 'Comet Orchid'. The specific name actually means 'foot and a half'. Flowers, 1-6 in number, can measure to 7" across and the spur (the long nectary at the back of the lip) to 14" and are fragrant at night. The plants prefer filtered light and warm nights (65 degrees and up) and produce flowers during winter months. Water and fertilize regularly.
The plants in this offering are planted in 5" terra cotta pots in New Zealand's Orchiata bark. Average leafspan is 12" and a few have shown their first flower stems. These early bloomings may have only 1 or 2 flowers and will improve in both flower quantity and quality as the plant matures.
Also available in a 4" size.
