Phalaenopsis japonica near flowering size 3" pot
Phalaenopsis (Sedirea) japonica
species - Japan, Korea, Ryukyu Islands, SW China
Flowers here are 1-1.5" across are are sweetly fragrant. First blooms may be 3-5 in number, but as the plant matures it may produce multiple stems of 6-10 blooms each. Our plants are 5-6" in leafspan, but should grow to more than twice that if cared for properly.
Some are now calling this plant Phalaenopsis, but unlike most of the Phalaenopsis we're familiar with, Phal. japonica likes cool, shady conditions and does well in a coarse, fast draining medium or mounted. Give them regular watering and fertilizing year-round, but avoid over-wet, soggy mix. Blooming season is mostly Spring-Summer.
LIMITED!! NEAR FLOWERING SIZE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY IN SPIKE, BUD, OR BLOOM!!
